Electroplating process is to use the principle of electrolysis to lay a layer of metal on the conductor. Electroplating refers to a kind of surface processing method, in which the base metal is used as cathode in the salt solution containing the pre plated metal, and the cation of the pre plated metal in the plating solution is deposited on the surface of the base metal through electrolysis to form the coating. The properties of the coating are different from that of the base metal and have new characteristics. According to the function of the coating, it can be divided into protective coating, decorative coating and other functional coating. During electroplating, the plating metal or other insoluble materials are used as anode, the workpiece to be plated is used as cathode, and the cation of the plating metal is reduced to form coating on the surface of the workpiece to be plated. It can enhance the corrosion resistance of metal (the coating metal mostly adopts corrosion-resistant metal), increase hardness, prevent abrasion, improve conductivity, smoothness, heat resistance and surface beauty. According to the composition of the coating, it can be generally divided into chromium plating, copper plating, cadmium plating, tin plating, zinc plating, gold plating and other precious metals.
